When assessing GM crops for marketing or cultivation in the European Union, socioeconomic issues are overlooked. This briefing assesses the impacts on rural communities, the environment and the economic burden upon the conventional and organic food sectors. It considers much broader issues than those dealt with by the European Commission in its upcoming report on socio-economic implications of GMO cultivation.
